Georgia Petropoulos is the President and CEO of B3K Prosperity, a dynamic nonprofit economic development organization guided by a mission to envision, engineer, and build the next era of success in Kern County, expanding prosperity through the creation of quality jobs. She has deep experience uniting diverse industry sectors to drive impactful change. Prior to her employment at B3K Prosperity, Georgia served as the CEO of the Oakland Business Improvement District in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she spearheaded innovative business development and place management initiatives. Under her tenure, she led the district through the Covid 19 economic recovery that included piloting novel approaches to urban street design and placemaking, such as developing Pittsburgh’s first art lighting festival, extensive outdoor dining program and a retail incubator for local artisans and micro entrepreneurs.
With her background in Architecture, executive leadership and international collaboration, Georgia brings a global perspective to her work. As a bi-lingual daughter of Greek immigrants, she is enthusiastic about language, culture and design and has enjoyed extensive travels throughout North America, Australia, Africa, and Europe. Most notable are her travels to Ghana where she led a team as part of the First International Cross-Diseases Conference on Disability Prevention in the Developing World. Georgia was also awarded a Rotary International Group Study Exchange to Lagos, Nigeria which included a personal meeting with former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. Georgia also served in various leadership capacity roles including member of the UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside Hospital Board of Directors, the Oakland Transportation Management Association, member of the Allegheny County/ Pittsburgh City County Task Force on Disabilities, Rotary Past President and Assistant District Governor and Chair of the Urban Land Institute, Pittsburgh Chapter.
Georgia earned a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies and in French Language and Literature from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She completed executive training at the Center for Creative Leadership in San Diego, California, and is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh.
